To qualify for a fiancé / e visa, the applicant must show that:

The United States Citizen (petitioner) and the fiancé / e (beneficiary) are legally free to marry and intend to marry within 90 days of the admission of the / the beneficiary to the United States.
The US citizen petitioner and the foreign fiancé / a have met in person within the two years immediately prior to the filing of the petition; Unless this requirement violates the strict customs of the fiancee’s foreign culture or social practice.
